Pre-Teen

The Driftwood Pre-Teen Program gives campers the best of both worlds—enjoying everything Driftwood has to offer while also venturing beyond the Driftwood gates for exciting trips and new experiences.

Each week is designed to provide the perfect balance of camp traditions, adventure, friendship, and independence. Pre-Teens typically spend two days on camp grounds and three days off grounds, participating in a combination of exciting day trips and unforgettable overnight experiences.

On days at Driftwood, Pre-Teens enjoy a full 9-period day and have the opportunity to experience everything our grounds have to offer. From swimming, athletics, arts and circus to special events and more, campers can continue enjoying their favorite activities while discovering new interests.

At this age, our focus goes beyond activities. The Pre-Teen experience is designed to help campers build new friendships, strengthen existing relationships, develop problem-solving skills, and gain greater confidence and independence.

Our staff encourages campers to explore their individual interests, develop new skills, and take greater ownership of their camp experience. Pre-Teens are given more day-to-day choices within their schedules and increased opportunities to make decisions independently—all while receiving the guidance and support of our experienced staff.

On camp days, campers receive a morning snack, hot lunch, and afternoon snack, with allergy-friendly alternatives always available. Driftwood maintains a peanut- and tree-nut-free environment.

Beyond the Driftwood gates, our Pre-Teens have the opportunity to spread their wings, explore new places, and experience a greater sense of independence—all while remaining under the supervision and care of our experienced professional staff.

Our trips are intentionally designed to encourage campers to develop self-confidence, independence, responsibility, and problem-solving skills while sharing memorable experiences with friends. Time spent traveling together also creates a unique opportunity for new friendships to form and existing friendships to grow even stronger.

Throughout the summer, campers participate in a combination of day trips and overnight adventures to exciting destinations within approximately a five-hour radius of Driftwood.

Transportation for overnights is provided aboard coach buses, and during overnight trips, campers stay in hotels. Driftwood takes care of the details—including transportation, accommodations, meals, snacks, activities, and experiences—so campers can focus on having fun, making memories, and enjoying the adventure.

The result is a summer experience that gives Pre-Teens the freedom and independence they are ready for, with the structure, supervision, and sense of community that makes Driftwood feel like home.
