That's why Driftwood has made an extraordinary commitment to providing one of the most comprehensive on-site medical programs in the summer camp experience.
State-of-the-Art Medical Facility
Driftwood's state-of-the-art, on-site medical facility is designed to provide a professional, comfortable, and welcoming environment for campers requiring medical attention. Whether it's a minor scrape, a headache, an unexpected illness, or a more serious medical concern, our experienced medical professionals are equipped to evaluate each situation and provide appropriate care.
An Exceptional On-Site Medical Team
With at least 8 Registered Nurses and an NP and PA on campus daily, Driftwood provides an extraordinary level of medical coverage and accessibility. Our medical professionals work closely with camp leadership, counselors, and families to ensure that every camper's individual health needs are addressed with care, professionalism, and attention.
12 AEDs Located Throughout Camp
Driftwood is equipped with 12 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) strategically located throughout our campus, providing quick access to these potentially lifesaving devices in the event of a cardiac emergency.
Staff Trained in CPR, AED, First Aid & EpiPen Administration
Safety at Driftwood extends far beyond our Medical Center. Our staff receives training in CPR, AED use, First Aid, and EpiPen administration, helping them recognize potential emergencies, respond appropriately, and quickly involve our medical professionals when needed.
Medical Decisions Are Made by Medical Professionals
One of the most important aspects of Driftwood's approach to camper health is our commitment to ensuring that medical decisions are made by qualified medical professionals—not camp counselors.
Our group staff is specifically instructed and trained to bring campers to our Medical Team whenever a health concern arises, no matter how big or small it may seem. From a minor bump or scrape to a camper simply not feeling like themselves, our philosophy is simple: when in doubt, let our nurses evaluate.
We do not expect counselors to diagnose injuries, assess illnesses, or determine whether a medical concern requires attention. Instead, our staff is trained to recognize potential issues and promptly involve the professionals who are best qualified to make those decisions.
This approach helps ensure that every medical concern receives the appropriate attention, evaluation, and care from properly trained healthcare personnel.

At Driftwood Day Camp, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience the magic of summer camp, regardless of their medical needs! That's why we take special pride in providing an exceptional level of individualized care and support for our campers with diabetes.
Our dedicated Diabetes Care Team, consisting of experienced Registered Nurses, works hand in hand with diabetic campers and their families to develop personalized care plans that address each child's unique medical needs while allowing them to fully participate in the Driftwood experience.
Each camper with diabetes is assigned a dedicated staff member who accompanies them throughout the camp day, providing an additional level of supervision, assistance, and reassurance as they move from activity to activity.
Our goal is simple: to allow campers with diabetes to enjoy every moment of summer camp with confidence, independence, and the support they need to thrive.
