Mike Wagenberg - “Wags”
Also a former president of the Long Island Camp and Private School Association (LICAPS), as well as Ron & Dale’s son-in-law, Wags has decades of camp experience, beginning as a camp counselor at Miss Sue’s Summer Fun twenty-five years ago. A Graduate of Syracuse University, and a former management consultant for Marriott Resorts, Wags ultimately realized his true passion was CAMP and fulfilled his lifelong dream by becoming an owner/director of Camp Tioga, and ultimately Driftwood. Wags passion for kids is always evident, making sure that each child’s individual needs are met. Wags’ biggest concern is that every camper has the best possible summer of his/her life. Wags’ wife, Marissa (Ron & Dale’s daughter), is an educator and renowned Natural Gourmet Chef. Their three children, Sarah, Samantha, both currently attend Driftwood Day Camp, and Grace.
A gifted athlete and self-proclaimed “lifelong camper”, Sean was a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor at Driftwood from 2002 through 2006. A graduate from Hofstra University with a BBA in Finance, Sean discovered that mentoring and working with kids was his true calling and rejoined the Driftwood Family in 2008. An important member of the team that planned the total renovation and rejuvenation of Driftwood Day Camp, Sean is always available to talk with any parent, camper or staff member. In additional to being at Driftwood year-round, Sean is the Director and Head Coach of the Syosset Rookie Basketball Program. Sean’s patience with children is evident in all that he does.
Dave LeWinter, an elementary school teacher in Valley Stream. is an Assistant Director at Driftwood. Dave has worked in many capacities at Driftwood and his greatest pleasure comes from interacting with campers, parents and staff. Proud to call Driftwood his second home for more than 20 years, Dave’s favorite quote is, “there is no other place I would rather be.” Dave’s sons, Adam and Jordan, grew up as campers at Driftwood and now work there each summer
A teacher and camp administrator who truly understands children and what camp is all about, Marc Edelman is another Assistant Director at Driftwood. Marc graduated from Brandeis University Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude, and received his Masters in Secondary Education from Hofstra University and his Educational Administration degree from C.W. Post. Marc currently teaches math at Roslyn High School. Marc’s fun, spirited personality brings enthusiasm to camp and helps make Driftwood the warm and comfortable summer home that it is.
Guy Tantillo has been part Driftwood’s family since 2002. A former Group Leader, Teen Travel Coordinator, and now Assistant Director, Guy takes great pride in bringing joy and achievement to all Driftwood campers. Guy is a sixth grade teacher and grade leader in P.S. 45Q in the New York City Department of Education. Guy is an avid sports fan who also coaches youth soccer and basketball for the Longwood Youth Sports Association. Father of two girls who attend Driftwood, Guy’s ultimate goal is for every child to feel welcome, safe, and be themselves at Driftwood.
Nisha Tantillo, Guys wife, is also an Assistant Director at Driftwood Day Camp. She has been a Driftwood Staff member since 2002. Nisha currently teaches 3rd grade at P.S.45Q and has taught in the New York City School System for over 10 years. A graduate of Adelphi University with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education, Nisha also volunteers her time as an assistant coach for her daughters’ soccer and basketball teams. Nisha diligently coordinates all special trips and is one of the most nurturing staff members at Driftwood.
Driftwood's Program Director, has been spending his summers at camp every year since he was five. Despite receiving degrees in Finance and Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University, he found his passion of working with children during his days as a camp counselor. Zach currently works as a math teacher in Brooklyn. He joined the Driftwood Family in 2011 as a Group Leader and became Program Director in 2015. Zach is committed to making every day incredible for each group at Driftwood.
Head Nurse/Medical Director
Joanne Kelly, our Head Nurse, has been part of the Driftwood family since 1999. Joanne brings with her 31 years of nursing experience. As a graduate of Adelphi University with a B.S. in Nursing, Joanne began her career as a Registered Nurse at NYU Medical Center where she gained well-rounded experience in patient care while rotating through medical units such as Med- Surg, CCU and Surgical ICU. Joanne later joined St. Francis Hospital as the Assistant Head Nurse in a cardiac step-down unit. She took time from her career raising two daughters, and rejoined the work force as the School Nurse at her daughters’ Elementary School. She was invited to join Driftwood as a Camp Nurse by the school’s Assistant Principal, a co-owner of Driftwood at the time. Joanne accepted and has worked at Driftwood every summer for the past 18 years. She is now Driftwood’s Medical Director. Joanne is married to a former police lieutenant, has been a Girl Scout Leader, was team mom for her daughter’s high school and college lacrosse teams, and continues to volunteer her time and organizational skills to various charities, scholarships, and events supporting the welfare of children.

A former athlete and marathon runner, Ron was a participant in NASA's Teacher in Space program. As the owner/director of Miss Sue’s Nursery School, Camp Tioga and Driftwood Day Camp, Ron built a brand focused on developing today’s children for tomorrow’s future. A program innovator and the creative energy behind the camps, Ron has also spoken at various School and American Camping Association national and local conventions. Ron’s wife, Dale, has been a teacher and camp director for more than 30 years. Her caring and enthusiastic nature has helped many students and campers reach their potentials.
Mike Kuznetz - “Kuz”
A graduate of the University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources and Environment, Mike’s love and knowledge of the great outdoors becomes part of every camper’s experience at Driftwood. With an uncanny ability to create, build or repair literally anything, Mike, Ron & Dale’s son, was previously a owner/Director at Miss Sue’s Summer Fun and Camp Tioga. Mike trains and oversees all of Driftwood’s Outdoor Adventure Specialists and has helped Driftwood become one of the Premier Camps in the entire country.
